More Than Kicks and Punches

At Radius, our kids program isn't just about martial arts technique — though they'll learn plenty of that. It's about building the character traits that help children succeed in every area of life: confidence, discipline, focus, respect for others, and the ability to handle adversity.

Our program uses a unique rotating structure: kids alternate between Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai every two weeks. This keeps training fresh, develops well-rounded martial arts skills, and prevents burnout. Your child will learn to grapple, strike, defend themselves, and — most importantly — carry themselves with the quiet confidence that comes from knowing they can handle whatever comes their way.

My son has been training at Radius Martial Arts for the past 6 years in both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai. What started as a martial arts program has become much more than that. The family-like atmosphere has helped him develop not only his athletic skills but also important life values such as respect, discipline, focus.

I have been taking my son for 3 years to both BJJ and Kickboxing. Practices are safe for the kids and they improve a lot! Coaches are well prepared and the 5 stars is the least they deserve!

Kids Martial Arts FAQ

What age can my child start?

Our kids program is designed for children ages 5–12. We assess each child individually — if your child is close to 5 or slightly older than 12, contact us and we'll help determine the best fit.

Is martial arts safe for kids?

Yes. Safety is our top priority. Classes are structured, supervised, and age-appropriate. Kids train with partners their own size, and contact is controlled. Our instructors are experienced in working with children of all temperaments and activity levels.

What if my child is shy or nervous?

That's completely normal — and it's exactly why many parents bring their kids to Radius. Our instructors create a welcoming, pressure-free environment where kids warm up at their own pace. Most children are fully engaged by the end of their first class.

Do kids earn belts?

Yes. The kids BJJ program follows a structured belt system that gives children clear goals and a sense of accomplishment as they progress.

How is the kids schedule structured?

Our kids program alternates between BJJ and Muay Thai every two weeks. This unique rotation keeps training varied, develops well-rounded skills, and prevents the boredom that comes from doing the same thing every class.
